You have the right to remain silent; it can be helpful to say this out loud.
You have the right to ask if you are free to leave if you are stopped.
You have the right to refuse to say or show documents that say which country you are from
You have the right to ask if you are free to leave when you are a passenger in a car. If the officer says yes, calmly leave.
If an immigration officer or agent (not police) asks to look inside your car, you can refuse to consent to the search
You have the right to not answer questions about your immigration status if you are pulled over in a car, but you may need to show your license, registration, or car insurance
Border Patrol agents need to have reasonable suspicion that the driver or passengers in the car committed an immigration violation or a federal crime
Any arrest or prolonged stop by Border Patrol requires probable cause. You may ask the agents about the basis for probable cause, and they should tell you. In this situation, both the driver and any passengers have the right to remain silent and not answer question

Si usted es detenido tiene derecho a preguntar si es libre de retirarse en cualquier momento
Puede negarse a mostrar documentos de identidad que indiquen de qué país es.
Si usted no va manejando y es pasajero, puede preguntarle al oficial que les detenga si se puede ir. Si el oficial dice que sí, salga del auto y retirarse con calma, no de razones para movilizar a los agentes.
Si un agente de ICE le pide inspeccionar su auto usted se puede negar. Si es un policía regular le debe dejar hacer el registro.
Si lo detienen mientras está manejando, tiene derecho a no contestar preguntas sobre su estatus migratorio pero TIENE que enseñar su licencia, registro y seguro/aseguranza.
Los agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza necesitan tener una sospecha razonable que el conductor del auto o algún pasajero han cometido una violación migratoria o un crimen federal.
Cualquier arresto o detención prolongada de la Patrulla Fronteriza necesita una causa probable. Les puede preguntar a los agentes por esta causa y ellos se la deben dar. En esta situación tanto el conductor como el pasajero tienen derecho a mantenerse en silencio y no responder a ninguna pregunta hasta tener un abogado.
